About StockOverlap

StockOverlap is a daily stock-research tool. It narrows roughly 3,000 US stocks down to a short list of companies that two independent fundamental scanners agree on — so you start your own research from a handful of names instead of thousands.

Who it's for

Self-directed investors who do their own research and want a disciplined, repeatable starting point: fundamentally strong businesses, reasonably valued, with meaningful analyst upside. It is not built for day trading, and it doesn't tell you what to buy.

How it works

  • Quality scanner. Scores each stock 0–12 on business quality — return on equity, earnings growth and consistency, margin stability, valuation versus its sector and balance-sheet strength.
  • Value scanner. A separate 0–12 model with different inputs — cash-flow and earnings yield, revenue growth, position in the 52-week range, short interest, institutional ownership and analyst conviction.
  • Dual Pick. A stock only becomes a Dual Pick when it passes both scanners on the same day with a combined score of at least 15/24 and 30%+ consensus analyst upside.
  • Logged, not curated. Each pick is recorded the day it first appears with its entry price frozen, and it is closed by a rule (fundamentals weaken or the analyst target is reached) — not by hand. Wins, losses and a summary of still-open positions are on the public track record.

Data sources, scoring details and known limitations are on the methodology page.

Who builds it

StockOverlap is built and run by an independent developer. It is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser or financial planner, and it is not affiliated with any brokerage.

Important: not investment advice

Everything on StockOverlap is for research and educational purposes only. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, and it is not personalized to your situation. Past performance — including the track record — does not guarantee future results, and investing involves risk, including loss of principal. Do your own research and consider speaking with a licensed financial professional before making investment decisions. See the Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
